Stone Carving
At the University of Tsukuba's Sculpture Department, stone sculpture is created in the classes "Sculpture Practice" (undergraduate) and "Sculpture Production" (graduate school).
We will explore the possibilities of stone carving using stone materials such as marble, andesite (Komatsu stone), granite, and gabbro (black granite). We will learn the basic techniques of stone carving as well as more advanced techniques and sensibilities. We will practice making sculptures using hand tools and give a presentation on the results.
