This exhibition is a solo exhibition by Fumiya Kawashima, who is scheduled to graduate from the Doctoral Program in Art at the University of Tsukuba this spring. Kawashima has been experimenting with sculptural expression using the traditional Japanese sculpting techniques of "wood carving" and "dry lacquer." This time, Kawashima will be exhibiting works he created during his seven years at the University of Tsukuba.

-From the artist-
My sculptures include both fantastical and realistic works. However, each work emerged in the process of pursuing the presence and reality of sculpture. I hope that in this exhibition you will be able to see the sculptures I created while studying at the University of Tsukuba.
