Thank you very much for visiting the "University of Tsukuba Master's Program Sculpture Volunteer Exhibition."

We are currently exploring the possibilities of three-dimensional expression in the field of sculpture as part of the Master's Program in Art and Design at the University of Tsukuba Graduate School. This exhibition will feature three-dimensional works created by Aizawa, Sue, and Banno based on their respective fields of expertise.

Aizawa creates works using styrofoam or urethane foam as the core material and covering the surface with wool felt. His themes are to express vague images, such as hazy images in dreams or half-forgotten memories, while leaving them vague.

Sue focuses on the constraints imposed by materials, and works on the theme of "replacement and simplification of form," applying the human form to the properties of the material. This exhibition will feature works that take their origin from the hollow structure unique to terracotta, as well as works that attempt to replace the human body with the form of a monument.

Banno mainly exhibits works with owls as the motif. He focuses on the contrast between their cute appearance and their ferocious behavior as birds of prey, as well as their symbolism as birds of wisdom, and expresses the charm of these creatures, which evoke a variety of impressions, such as "frightening" and "cute," through his sculptures.

We hope you will take the time to take a look.

Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Professor Takemoto Taishi, Professor Miyasaka Shinji, and everyone at Gallery Seira for their cooperation in organizing this exhibition.
