College of Art students were very active in the exhibition of the “Ishii Collection” owned by our university!

Our university has approximately 200 works of art in the former collection of Mr. Akira Ishii (Advisor, Library Distribution Center Co., Ltd.).
A portion of the Ishii Collection is on permanent display at the University of Tsukuba Gallery in the University Hall.

In April 2011, while the chaos caused by the earthquake still continued, approximately 4 ceramic items from the Ishii Collection were transferred to the Ibaraki Prefectural Ceramic Art Museum.

In January 2012, 1 watercolors, drawings, and prints from the Ishii Collection were lent to the Musashino City Kichijoji Museum of Art.

Students from the College of Humanities helped with the gallery talk.It was very well received.

We will continue to provide opportunities for practical art history learning using the Ishii Collection in the Art Studies and Art History courses.
