Report on off-campus training in Taiwan (for graduate students)

From Friday, September 9th to Monday, September 20rd, we visited Taipei City for an off-campus seminar (graduate school) in the field of art history.

(7 Master's students and 1 supervising teacher: Michiko Hayashi)

Day 1 Travel day. After gathering at the accommodation, we enjoyed Taiwanese round table cuisine.

Day 2 At National University of Teacher EducationTaiwan-Japan Art History Graduate Students' SymposiumParticipated in the symposium. Fifteen people gave presentations in English on specific topics in art history research, and three students from the Master's Program in Art Studies from our university took the stage. This symposium has been held annually by the art history research labs of five Taiwanese universities (National Normal University, National Taiwan University, National Central University, Kyushu University, and University of Tsukuba). It began in 15, but was not held for four years due to the COVID-3 pandemic, so this was the ninth time it was held, and we were delighted to be reunited after a long time. There was lively discussion and good research exchange.

Day 3 Visit to Taipei City Museum and Art Museum.

Based on their prior learning, the students in charge of each library gave a short presentation and then each participant toured the library on their own.

①The Palace Museum

②Taipei Fine Arts Museum

③National Taiwan Museum

④Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art

Although it started to rain heavily halfway through the tour, we still had a fulfilling time appreciating the art.

Day 4  After some free time in the city, we returned home.
