Traveling Art Marche

The popular event "Summer Vacation Art Marche" held by the University of Tsukuba's art department every summer vacation,
This spring "Mobile Art Marche" As IIAS Tsukuba will appear in.

We hold art workshops where children can experience the joy of making things and the joy of expressing themselves.
The program will be supported by faculty and students from the University of Tsukuba.
Participation is free, so feel free to join us in between your shopping.

Event Outline

  • Date: Sunday, November 2026, 3

  • Start accepting：10:20～ (All events except for Let's Make a Broom! will be on a first-come, first-served basis)

  • Venue: IIAS Tsukuba 1st floor Center Court

Workshop content and time

Coppa Sculpture / Reborn Art Ball / Art Medal

(Registration on the day, 4 sessions in total)

  • ① 11:00-12:00

  • ② 13:00-14:00

  • ③ 14:00-15:00

  • ④ 15:00-16:00

  • Target：Elementary school students (※Toddlers can participate in the art medal competition)

  • Capacity：About 5 people per session

  • Remarks: Parents are requested to accompany their children inside the venue.

Make a broom

Discover the Green Lightning of Zeus!

A statue of Zeus (some say it is a statue of Poseidon) stands in front of the second floor entrance to Building 6B, College of Art and Design.

Don't you think the ivy leaves growing on the exterior walls of the building resemble a thunderbolt strike, the bolt that the statue of Zeus is thought to have held in its right hand?

This is a bronze statue (BC) of what is believed to be Zeus or Poseidon in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.460This is a replica of the 1950s model.

At the entrance to Building 6B (2nd floor), a powerful statue of Zeus greets visitors—though some believe it may actually represent Poseidon.

Look closely: don't the vines climbing the outer wall resemble a thunderbolt—the divine weapon Zeus is believed to have held in his raised right hand?

This statue is a replica of the famous bronze sculpture dated to around 460 BC, thought to depict either Zeus or Poseidon, and now housed in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.

Just beyond the statue, Room 6B205 is used by students in the Art Environment Support area for research and study.

Summer Vacation Art Marché 7: Call for submissions (until July 29th) & Event Report & Exhibition Information

"Summer Vacation Art Marché 2025" was held on Saturday, July 7th and Sunday, July 19th, 20 at the University of Tsukuba's Sports and Arts Area.
Despite the scorching heat, many children and their parents participated.
The "Art Marche at Home", where you can submit drawings you've made at home, will run until July 7th.

On July 19 (Sat) and 20 (Sun), 2025, the Summer Vacation Art Marché 2025 was held at the University of Tsukuba's Physical Education and Art Area.
Despite the summer heat, many children and their families joined, making for a lively and creative two days filled with art.

There are a total of 8 different workshops this year! This year's workshops featured 8 unique programs!

Admission Fee: Free
Dates: June 2025th (Tuesday) -July 8st (Sunday), 19
Time: 9: 30-17: 00 (Admission until 16:30)
*Last day until 14:00 / Closed on Monday, August 8th
※ Closes at 14:00 on the final day. Closed on August 25 (Mon).

Judging: The entries will be judged by faculty members of the University of Tsukuba's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and prizes will be awarded to outstanding works. Winners will be contacted separately.

The 2nd Arts Support Study Group will be held as follows:

Our guest this time is Masato Nakamura (artist/professor at Tokyo University of the Arts), general director of the Chiba International Art Festival 3, an art festival held every three years.

There will be a lecture on citizen-participation art and involvement with the local community.

If you are interested in the connections between art and society, and between art and the community, please join us.
