Art Support Research Group: "Considering the Relationship Between Art and Local Resources - Lessons from the Sumida Five Colors Art Festival"

/category: /Author:

The Arts Support Research Group held a session titled "Considering the Relationship Between Art and Local Resources - Lessons from the Sumida Five Colors Art Festival."

In this study group, we invited Mr. Shingo Kanno, the director of the "Sumida Five Colors Art Festival," to give a lecture on the relationship between art and local resources. In his lecture, he discussed the development of art since Duchamp and the trends surrounding art projects and art festivals, as well as the efforts of art festivals in the Sumida Areas of study.

In particular, it was an opportunity to learn through concrete examples how to connect artistic activities with the history, industry, culture, and daily lives that already exist in a Areas of study, and how art festivals can become a place to rediscover and share local resources.

For the participating students, it was a valuable opportunity to consider the significance of contemporary art festivals and art projects, as well as to understand how arts support practices can engage with local communities.
